A little more about me - Alice Lawrence
I have worked in social care for most of my life, starting work in a care home where I did the laundry and made the tea before progressing into a care worker role as I got older. Those early experiences gave me a genuine understanding of the day-to-day realities of caring for people and shaped the values that have stayed with me throughout my career: treating people with dignity, patience, compassion and respect.
As I gained experience, I became increasingly interested in developing my knowledge and understanding of the wider social aspects of care. Alongside working, I completed a degree in Health and Social Care, which provided a strong foundation for my transition into social work. Since then, my career has given me broad and varied experience across mental health, learning disabilities, forensic services, safeguarding, and complex adult social care.
My approach has remained consistent throughout my career. I am straightforward, approachable and down to earth, while taking my responsibilities and the work I do very seriously. I believe it is important that people feel heard, understood and respected, particularly when they are facing difficult or complex circumstances. I try to bring a calm, practical and sensible approach, focusing on what matters to the person and finding realistic ways forward.
